Our Story
Harptree Books began as an independent publishing venture founded by Ben Dogley. What started as a home for a growing collection of books has gradually evolved into a broader literary platform, bringing together books, articles, contributors and ideas.
Based in the Loire Valley, Harptree seeks to encourage curiosity, reflection and informed discussion through both fiction and non-fiction.
Our Books
Harptree Books publishes both fiction and non-fiction through two distinct collections.
The Brainwave Collection presents analytical works on ideas, systems and society, while the Harptree Collection brings together novels exploring ambition, identity, power and human experience.
Our Journals
Books are only part of the conversation.
Through Brainwave and Perchance to Dream, Harptree publishes articles, essays and reflections that explore the ideas, stories and questions that lie behind our work.
These journals provide a space for curiosity, discussion and intellectual exploration beyond the printed page.
Our Contributors
Harptree Books began as an independent publishing venture and is gradually evolving into a broader literary platform.
Alongside its books and journals, Harptree welcomes contributions from writers, thinkers and practitioners whose work reflects the spirit of curiosity, reflection and informed discussion that underpins the platform.
Current Initiatives
Harptree Books is more than a catalogue of books. From time to time, it supports projects, competitions and events that encourage reading, writing, reflection and public engagement.
These initiatives reflect the platform's wider commitment to storytelling, ideas and the conversations they inspire.
Future Direction
Harptree Books is gradually evolving from an independent publishing venture into a broader literary platform for books, articles, contributors and ideas.
Over time, Harptree aims to support thoughtful writing, encourage literary discussion and provide a space where readers, writers and contributors can engage with the questions that shape contemporary life.

Founder
Harptree Books was founded by Ben Dogley, a British-Seychellois lecturer, consultant and author based in the Loire Valley. His work spans finance, management, economics and fiction, and includes both academic and literary publications.
A strong believer in the power of ideas and storytelling, he established Harptree as a home for books, articles and conversations that encourage curiosity, reflection and informed discussion.
